Not very interesting pictures. But it’s a record for myself.
Nothing is right. Entropy has taken over. The kitten is a monster – he knocked down a Monstera I had nursed since it was a cutting. Grr. Box Elderbugs are all over the outside of the house, moving in. The terrace bricks continue their “spring molt” (I wake up in a panic that they are falling off entirely). I have had nightmares.
I sleep more these days than earlier in my life. I have always had very vivid dreams that I can recall well into the next day. Right now, they are nightmares. No huge things like great shakings lol, but more like little things that cause random havoc. Entropy nightmares, I suppose.
And then I wake up to entropy. What I really need is a handyman and a housekeeper like the old days. I loved coming home to a just-cleaned house and being able to text a nice man a list of things we needed done and he just came and did it. I didn’t have to hunt him down, beg and plead to pay him. I didn’t have to sit with the housekeeper and listen to her drama before she cleaned. People just used to do their stuff and get paid.
Instead, entropy mixed with rampant sloth, including and especially, my own. I guess this is my favorite word today.
So in response, I have been making to-do lists that will probably never get to to-done status. I’ve pruned the blackberries and raspberries on the side garden. I’ve made a seed starting mix (coconut coir with perlite and vermiculite). I planted lettuces and tsatsoi in a tray in the polyhouse. Because I take horrible garden notes here it is for future me: Winter Density romaine, Truchas romaine, and Rosette Tsatsoi, 12 of each, in that order. Peas were planted only in the polyhaus. It might be early but we shall see. I have a ton of pea seeds anyway.
Ok so no more Friday Downer.
There are some bright spots too. The fruit trees in the front seemed to have survived the -6 degrees we had a couple of weeks ago. I pruned them for the first time. It was nerve-wracking! Am I doing this right? Will I kill this tree? Friday you have no idea what you are doing shouldn’t you hire someone? Eff it. I rocked those pruning shears.
The seeds started at my friend’s house around the corner are sprouting up nicely! I expect to see true leaves any day now. I start a ton of seeds every year. She has nooooo idea what she is in for. 🙂
The garlic in the side garden is just starting to sprout. I think this is a good thing. The spacing looks great.
One thing I want to note is that I am nearly done moving to my new hosting service. Almost done – it’s been a huge project because we went from control panels for each to just one control panel install. I just moved old muandfu and revitalized it a bit. I am hoping Eric will take up making punny comic strips again. I just have the big puzzlemonster site and a small site I host for friends. The puzzlemosnter site is a bear to move with all it’s databases and codebases.
I much prefer garden work to sitting on my butt at a computer.
The weather is warm but I am told this is a false spring. I’ll take it anyway.
